People are Catching On

You still have to worry about the 37%, but the trend is in the right direction, Bush is in trouble.

Keep in mind, people, that Bush has not vetoed a single thing out of congress, and that means that any blame that goes to Bush, goes to the Republican Party as a whole. Bush may be the point man on the lying, cheating and stealing, but there is an organization that created the institution that he rode in on. That's the Party.

Partisan or not, it just seems these days that unless you truly believe you live in a world where we can all live under one ideology, the rising disapproval numbers show that, yep, W just might be the Worst. President. Ever. As participants in a democracy, we need to help our leaders realize that America is still a very young nation going through it's "know-it-all" adolescence. Frankly, and not to sound complacent, but I think this administration is digging its own hole. And hopefully we'll be able to bury it before '08. Peace.

    The war in Iraq is being handled in such an incompetant fashion that it makes Bush's homeland policies look like there were concoted by the finest intellectuals in the world. Every day the green zone is hit by mortar fire, evidence of the sheer lawlessness perpetrated out of the fantasy world that is the Green Zone, the one place where Iraqi law actually means anything. And, considering that Iraqis are facing conditions as bad or worse as under Saddam since we began our occupation (no basic utilities, no security, no law, constant bombings, rise of Islamic fundamentalists in Iraq, etc.), and considering that the death toll of civillians and soldiers has passed 50,000, and considering that the Iraqi state seems to be rapidly falling apart due to near-compelete exclusion of the Sunnis, who are extremely disenfranchised and pissed-off about it, and considering that civil war seems to be inevitable if we don't change our whole way of going about "winning" this war, I am against the war. There, a fact-based argument against the Iraq war that has nothing to do with the brazen lies that Bush used to mislead the public.

  • This is all well and good and I hope your message travels far and wide! But, you know, some of us were spreading this message before the election of 2000, and again before the invasion of Iraq, and yet again before the election of 2004. It didn't make a difference then, and now it's too damn late. Most of the world saw on those occasions (and pointed out the fact) that the emperor had no clothes. But Bush is in office and WE Americans allowed him to take it...TWICE! He has done untold and possibly irreversable damage to our economy, our environment, our educational system, our Constitution, our military, our global reputation, and our unity as a nation -- just as millions worldwide predicted he would. Did knowing that make any difference? No. Will it help now to close the gate after the horse is out of the barn, long gone, dead and rotting in a ditch? Doubt it. That said, I don't want to discourage any "Johnny-come-latelys" from joining the ferver, so more power to ya! Just remember that facts made little difference to the folks who put Bush where he is, so I doubt any form of diatribe will encourage them to come to their senses and remove him.
